Green Schools - Climate Ambassadors
In 2022 I was invited to develop a resources for the Green-Schools Ireland wide programme. Initially the resource will be piloted with 3rd to 6th class students in the ‘legacy’ schools; those who have worked their way through the programme for a decade or more and have achieved most of the Global Citizenship Green Flags and helped to shape the programme for future students.
The concept is to encourage the next generation of Climate Ambassadors, with climate challenges themed around waste, energy, water, transport and biodiversity. The schools earn carbon credits for the challenges they take on with their class, moving up the leaderboard.
Once the pilot has been tested by the children and approved by the teacher the pilot will be developed into an online interactive resource and opened up to other schools across Ireland.
Here a few of the illustrations:
Scenes: All of the illustrations were created as different layers and assets to be used flexibly across the resource (for example if the fox is an asset on its own, part of a wild animal scene and part of the main school scene)
Climate Ambassadors: There are 5 climate ambassadors, each representing a different challenge theme. Blossom (biodiversity), Flushy (water use), Mulch (composting, waste and recycling), Sparky (energy) and Wheely (transport).Wheely (transport),
A map and whole series of challenges at all different levels (media, community, home, school and team) have also been created:
